- 2 cups all purpose flour (extra for dusting)
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 1tsp baking soda
- 1tsp garlic powder
- 1tsp salt
- 6 tbsp cold unsalted butter (cubed or grated)
- ¾ cup cold Kingsville Brewery Czech Lager Beer
- ¼ cup buttermilk
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese (or cheese of your choice)
- ¼ cup finely chopped chives
Instructions:
- Preheat oven to 450degF (230deg C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
- Mix flour, baking soda, baking powder, garlic powder, salt, cheese and chives in a large bowl
- Add cold butter to dry ingredients and cut in with a pastry cutter or with fingers until mixture becomes coarse and crumbly
- Add beer and buttermilk and stir just until mixture comes together in a shaggy and slightly sticky dough. Do not overmix
- Turn dough onto floured surface, gently pat or roll to about 1” thick, fold dough over on itself 1 or 2 times and roll back down to 1” thick
- Cut into squares or circles of your choice of size and place biscuits onto prepared baking sheet. Space apart for crispy edges or close together for soft edges
- Bake 12-15 minutes or until golden brown
- Brush tops with more melted butter while still warm and serve
